420,424 acres burned
1,155 homes destroyed
881,500 people evacuated
the worst hit is san diego county, about three hours from me. i'm not sure about that one, but i think now that the winds have died down there has been a lot of progress against many of the fires. at least the ones closest to me. you can check out latimes.com for some pictures and videos.
here's one i took off that website showing homes in rancho bernardo that have been leveled.
this is one from santa clarita
again, i took these pics from the la times website. looking at all of this definitely gives you a feeling of awe and horror at amazing power that mother nature has. we are so small compared to the forces that control the world. everything can be going beautifully one day and the next your whole life could be turned upside down. i am so thankful that i have not been physically afftected by these fires, but i feel for those that have. i pray for them and hope that the weather cooperates with the efforts of the firefighters so this can end as soon as possible.
