le mondial

i just felt like writing a few of my thoughts down on this beautiful saturday, while i am watching the world cup - le mondial...

1. i'm watching the usa play ghana. 90 minutes have passed, and they are tied 1 to 1. i guess they can't leave it at a tie for this game, so they are playing another 30 minutes. if we win, i just might name my second born son landon donavon, and make him play soccer. (my first born is going to be named bode, and will ski.)

2. i have decided that internet dating does NOT work. now, this is going to be somewhat of a rant. but i already have deleted my profiles on all but one lds dating site, due to the fact that that the only guys who decide to flirt with me are from africa or the middle east. don't get me wrong, i am not opposed to people from other countries. however, i am not your ticket to being able to come to the united states. it's like my mission all over again. my question is how come there isn't a good american boy out there? somewhat local, so we can at least go on a date without someone having to get a visa... anyhow...

3. it looks like it might possibly rain today. those of you who read this who live anywhere else may not be able to appreciate the change in humidity when clouds form over the desert. but even a little moisture in the air is definitely perceptible. i think the biggest reason being that the swamp coolers don't work as well. but it makes for a beautiful sky. and i didn't have to put so much lotion on today. and did i mention that i love the smell?

4. last night i dreamt that i was weeding the garden and taking down wallpaper and painting and such. man, i was disappointed when i woke up and none of it had been done. plus i was already tired from doing it in my head.

5. here's a picture from one of my latest adventures, hiking to anasazi arch outside of aztec.

rain, rain go away

i must say that the rain lately has actually been somewhat refreshing. but i am getting a little tired of it. i guess i'd have a hard time where there is an actual monsoon season. but it seems to have slowed down. all i can say is that i'm glad i have the super intuitive four wheel drive anti-hydroplane stability thing on my car. otherwise all the driving i've been doing lately might have been a bit scarier. last night there were all kinds of weather warnings, like flood watches, thunderstorm warnings, tornado warnings, etc. honestly, i'd never heard of tornados on the coast before, but apparently there was one down by malibu. it didn't seem too bad where i'm at though. AND i got a handy dandy little gps thing now, so i won't get lost when i drive through la. yea me!
