California!

Well, I'll be off tomorrow, heading for California for two weeks. It will be nice to have a long break from work. We are going to have so much fun! I can hardly wait to get done with work today, I'm so ready to leave. I haven't seen most of the places that we are going to, so it will be very cool. Dustin has this whole itinerary and checklist planned out, and I'm going to pack tonight, and we'll drive off into the sunrise tomorrow morning! I'm going to Disneyland!

Dreams

yes, i do have dreams...
i never really thought too much about the house that i wanted, other than when i was little, i wanted it to look like a doll house, kind of victorian-ish. with a big porch where you could sit outside and drink lemonade and watch the sunset. preferrably it wouldn't be too far away from somewhere interesting like the mountains or the beach. it has to have a big yard where you can play, have picnics, whatever, and have a garden. the house itself would be big enough to not feel crowded or cramped inside, especially the kitchen and the bathroom. (yes, i'm a girl, i spend a lot of time in the bathroom and it needs to be comfortable). and it needs a room big enough to have parties in, to invite people over. i could even use a pool and a tennis court, like my house in australia had. i want to live in a town, not a big city, and not too far away from civilization. i don't really know where, as long as it's not too far away from somwhere interesting, if the town itself isn't. i would even go for other countries too. as far as other things go that i want to do, i want to travel. i want to see lots of places in the world. i want to go back to australia, and to france, but i also would like to see other places in europe like england and italy, i want to see africa- although i think i'll wait till the millenium and there's no more war there, the same with isreal. i want to go to tahiti, new zealand, maybe even south america. although i don't have much of a desire to go to russia or china for some reason. of course, i can't do any of this by myself, so somebody would have to come with me. anyway, i also want to be a musician, be able to play anything on the piano, violin, guitar, even write my own music. i want to pick up watercolors again- maybe other types of painting and drawing too. when i was little i always wanted to learn another language, particularly french. thanks to my mission, i was able to do that. but i don't want to lose it. so i want to be able to take french classes to keep it up. and i want to learn spanish too. maybe even portuguese and italian and german as well. i want to learn more about history, other cultures, the way that people live, the way things work, the gospel, the scriptures, where i fit in everything. as far as a job, i want to do something where i feel like i'm actually contributing and helping people. however, i don't want to be a teacher or a doctor, never had that dream. it has to be something non-stressful, where i work with people that are fun and laid back. where i can work outside if i want to, and work my own hours. (this is a dream job, right?) something that doesn't have too many restrictions. and this is if i had to work, cause if not, i could spend my time doing music or painting or maybe even learning how to cook. and give more time to my calling. i want to be organized, but i don't think that's ever going to happen. i want to have lots of friends, and people who like me, but i don't want the responsibility of entertaining all the time. and yes, i do want to get married and have a family. i mean, really, doesn't everybody? i don't really know too many of the specifics for this one, which you might think is really weird. i mean, yes, in young women, i made the list of qualities that i wanted in a future eternal companion, just like everyone else, but as i've gotten older it's changed a bit, so i guess i need to go back and revise the list. as time passes, you look for different things. as far as the family goes, like number of kids, boys or girls, whatever, i don't know. i think i'll let whatever happens happen.
i guess i have a hard time saying exactly what i want to have happen, when i know that it's probably going to be different from whatever i say. i guess that's where dreams and reality clash. you can have all the dreams that you want to, but when you know that in reality, life is going to be different from what you're dreaming, and that's not necessarily bad, but it kind of puts a damper on the dreaming part. i guess i don't want to go through life being disappointed, so i've decided in the past that i'd be ok with whatever came my way, as long as it's not something that makes me too incredibly unhappy. but the problem with that is you end up waiting around for things to happen instead of making them happen yourself. so i guess i'm slowly learning that lesson, that i need to be more actively involved in my own life. but i'm a wimp and i'm lazy, so it's a hard lesson to learn.
