my first earthquake...

so, wednesday night (technically 1am thursday morning) i was getting in my bed when i felt a little shaking, i saw my bookshelf and plants moving. it was kinda weird, and i didn't think too much about it until i was laying in bed. i thought maybe it was an airplane flying too close or maybe they were doing some construction out on the golf course or something. then i thought, wait, this is a pretty sturdy house. something that small shouldn't make it shake like that. i mean, this house was built to withstand earthquakes... yeah, then it finally hit me that i had just experienced an earthquake! it kinda scared me. i mean the fact that the entire earth below you is unstable and moving is a little intimidating. it turned out it was a 4.6 quake about 45 miles from here. i realized then that if it had been worse, i was totally unprepared for that, physically and mentally. i never thought too much about earthquakes and the whole standing under the door frame thing. would i even know what to do if a more sever earthquake hits? yeah, this one was small & not too close, but it still scared me. i guess it's a wake up call, saying welcome to california... get used to the shaking???
